Philosophy: Mental Health issues can be addressed in several ways, including a) strictly looking at the past, b) looking at problems in life today, and c) the use of medications. As a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, I am mostly interested in what you are thinking and feeling today. It may be necessary to go into your past, but very often, resolving today's problems also can start to heal the past situations, or make them somewhat irrelevant. Cognitive Therapy takes much less time than traditional psychodynamic therapy. Depending on your situation, and your willingness to use medication, medication can also help speed your progress. |

Practice: People who have depression, anxiety, relationship problems, trauma, and poor self esteem find that my manner, personal style, and theoretical framework are very helpful. I work with adults, children and adolescents, individuals or couples (marriage or relationship counseling), families and families of divorce. Issues with children may include or be related to behavioral problems, help with parenting, or issues such as Attention Deficit/ Attention Deficit, Hyperactivity Disorder, depression or anxiety.
I also treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder using Bilateral Stimulation Techniques, similar to EMDR. It is extremely effective.
I am a "cognitive therapist." I generally deal with current issues, behaviors and thoughts, how you are thinking about and dealing with life today. Of course, when it is relevant, we will deal with issues from the past. I do individual, marriage and family counseling and play therapy
My office is located near the Inn at Reading, on Park Plaza, Wyomissing. It is easily accessed by Route 422, or by Penn Avenue. The waiting room has toys and books and a table for children. If I am seeing adults, children are welcome to wait in the waiting room. "

Setting: I have a private practice in an office building setting, with a large parking lot, near public transportation. There is a flight of stairs. Three Therapists share the same waiting room. Toys are available for children. The setting is cheery and private, and doesn't scream, "I'm going to get help from a therapist." |
