Location:
Philadelphia, PA 19103
USA

Education:
PhD from Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies; Adelphi University in 1975

Philosophy:
Marriage is not easy. All humans mess up frequently. We all can benefit from someone who listens and tries to understand. The deepest levels of the personality are the ones that often contribute most to our problems. Patience with ourselves and each other is priceless but very challenging. Having a satisfying family life is something many people crave but know little about how to achieve. Fun, pleasure, laughter are important for healing and life.

Practice:
I work hard at listening and communicating. I have a good sense of humor and a great deal of experience with all sorts of people. My business partner is also my wife and mother of my children. I bring to my work the knowledge that we have gained from 39 years of marriage: our own struggles, conflicts, heartaches and joys. These clinical and life experiences are my most valuable resources. I grew up in a family where my father was a famous therapist and my mother went back to grad school and got her PhD at 65. Dinner table conversations were about ways of helping people. I employ a variety of theoretical and strategic methods all grounded in the understanding of the foibles of being human and the incredible complexity of the marital relationship. I have taught seminars throughout the country and have hosted an NPR radio show, consulted with an NFL team, co-written a book on communicating with children about the threat of nuclear war and maintained a private practice. I have kept my sense of humor and tend to enjoy people.
