Philosophy: My philosophy is clearly "person-centered", humanistic, and incorporates the idea of "perception as reality". As long as clients are interested and "willing to engage" or "do the work", there is no question that people's lives can change markedly in the ways they desire. We all strive to actualize, maintain and enhance our selves and our experiences.
As people perceive and accept their "selves" they are able to replace the present value system, based very much on distorted perception, with a continuing re-evaluation process in an effort to change their values and beliefs, thereby changing their behaviors and (potentially) their lives.
"Unconditional positive regard" is natural for this clinically-trained social worker. |

Practice: I have seven years as a high school social worker in NYC, where I counseled Deaf and hard of hearing students (I am fluent in American Sign Language) individually and in small groups. I have intervened in cases related to domestic violence, child abuse, anxiety, depression, family dynamics, discipline issues, cultural issues, etc. I am quite proud, too, of the honorable mention received by the City of New York and others after our school evacuation on September 11, 2001. I have many years experience in crisis intervention, counseling through loss and grieving as well as other traumatic experiences.
A recent addition to Philadelphia, I currently work in an agency full time that provides behavioral and mental health support to Deaf children/young adults, their families and school settings as an itinerant social worker. I look forward to "branching out" into the general adult population after seeing evidence of the positive effects my service has on families. |

Additional information: I am fluent in American Sign Language/English. I have worked in various and diverse settings with all ages, races and people with various physical challenges. |
